POST-EXERCISE RECOVERY AND THE USE OF THE APIAN PRODUCTS IN ELITE ATHLETES

Objective: to evaluate the effects of 2-month apian and herbal Tentorium products (AHP) course on the post-exercise recovery of elite athletes.
Materials and Methods: physical performance (PhP) and post-exercise recovery (PER) were assessed in 29 athletes (mean age 19,8±1,3 years) after a 2-month AHP course. The indicators of an endothelium-dependent flow-mediated vasodilation of the brachial artery (EDVD), the autonomic nervous system tension index (TI), blood biochemistry, psycho-emotional state, and physical fitness were studied using the Omega Sport IT solution.
Results: a decrease in systolic blood pressure (SBP) at rest and during exercise, TI at rest, heart rate recovery, heart rate at rest, and recovery of the urea, lactate and cortisol levels was found after the AHP-course. Also levels of hemoglobin, erythrocytes, total protein, iron, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, immunoglobulin G, EDVD have increased. There was an increase in PhP, anaerobic threshold time, and maximum oxygen consumption. Adaptation to physical work, energy provision, athlete’s activity and physical fitness has also improved.
Conclusions: the three-component set of AHP Tentorium reduces both the severity of negative phenomena in sports activities, and the risk of overexertion and overtraining. Therefore, it could be recommended for PER in elite athletes.
