Elite athletes experience both physical and psychoemotional stress before major competitions. Therefore it is a common situation when athlete becomes ill after a competition, especially in winter sports, such as biathlon. Potentially natural antioxidants can reduce consequences of the physical stress and support the immune system. In addition natural antioxidants if used correctly can increase force and endurance of an athlete, and improve recovery. Unfortunately, up to date there are no relevant studies showing the benefits of application of the antioxidants in sports. That might be because of a wrong choice of antioxidants, lack of consideration of their bioavailability and lack of control of the antioxidant status of an athlete during trainings. The technologies developed in Russia can help detect the markers of an oxidative stress.
