Objective: To estimate the effect of course application of the «UltraForvard» functional food product for special purposes (FPSP) on physical efficiency of wrestlers with high qualification as well as histological and morphometric parameters of myocardium and skeletal muscle of pigs. Materials and Methods: The study involved: 1. judo athletes (men) (n = 10), aged from 18 to 24 years, sports experience not less than 5 years, qualification is not lower than the candidate for master of sports; 2. breed of а pig called «Large White» (n = 18). Animals in the experimental group (n = 9) received FPSP with regular food SC-5. The control group of animals (n = 9) received only the regular food. The examination of athletes was conducted on SCHILLER bicycle ergometer, animals − on the treadmill MaxFit 26W, equipped with the fixing device. Daily dose was consisting with 3 products (triplet «biscuitchocolate- biscuit») (81 g) according to the scheme: 1 triplet (27 g.) during breakfast, 2 triplets (54 g.) during lunch. Duration of study was 21 days in athletes and 30 days in animals.
Results: Mean value of maximum oxygen consumption (MOC) in athletes increased from 47.5 to 52.8 ml/min/ kg. In the experimental group of animals the diameter of muscle fibers increased versus to the control group: by 2.9% in the long muscles of the back and by 4.3% in the semitendinous muscle with a statistically significant increase in the number of muscle fibers nucleus to 90% indicating strongly pronounced proliferative processes.
Conclusions: Increase of the characteristics of MOC and tolerance to physical activity at course application of the FPSP «UltraForvard» can be provided by increase in cross-sectional area of muscle fibers and in the number of nucleus in myocytes and oxygen utilization improvement.
