THE EXPERIENCE OF THE MEDICA L SUPPORT OF THE R USSIAN NATIONAL TEAM ON THE XXX SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES 2012 IN LONDON AND THE XXII WINTER OLYMPIC GAMES 2014 IN SOCHI

This article presents the information on the quantity of encounters of sportsmen to the Russian national medical centers developed by Federal Medical Biological Agency of Russia during the XXXth summer London Olympic Games and XXIIth winter Sochi Olympic Games as well as on the type of pathology registered.
Objective: the analysis of quantity and of the reasons of references of sportsmen in the medical center of the Russian national team during XXX summer Olympic games of 2012 in London and XXII winter Olympic games of 2014 in Sochi. Material and methods: retrospectively we analyzed records in the electronic passport of sportsmen of Russian national team and in standard medical reference forms accomplished during the XXXth summer Olympic Games in London 2012 and XXIIth winter Olympic Games in Sochi 2014. In the mentioned documents at all references to the medical center of Russian national team of sportsmen the frequency of references, chief complaints, the diagnosis and prescribed treatment was recorded. Records were conducted from the moment of opening of the medical centers of the National team in a venue of the Olympic Games up to their closing.
Results: Medical centers during summer Olympic Games in London worked from 25.07.2012 till 12.08.2012. For the given period 528 references of sportsmen have been registered. From them, references for rehabilitation purposes formed 56% (n=296) and those concerning treatment of diseases made up 44% (n=232). References concerning illnesses of muscular-skeletal system made up 46,1% of all references (n=107) and were leading in quantity. Also frequent were references concerning traumas forming 19,4% (n=45). References concerning diseases of the upper respiratory tract formed 20,2% (n=47), references concerning illnesses of cardiovascular system − 3% (n=7), concerning ophtalmology − 0,4% (n=1), references for skin diseases − 7,8% (n=18), illnesses of urogenital system − 0,4% (n=1), for gastrointestinal diseases − 2,5% (n=6). Medical centers during XXII Olympic Games in Sochi worked from 02.02.2014 till 22.02.2014. Rehabilitation was the core in work of the medical centers of the National team during the Olympic Games in Sochi. Such references were registered in 39,2% (n=280). References concerning chronic diseases of muscular-skeletal system made up − 36,1% (n=258). The quantity of references of sportsmen during Sochi Olympic games (n=715) exceeded references of sportsmen during the Olympic Games in 2012 in London (n=528). During both these sport events references for rehabilitation dominated, forming 56% of all references in London and 39,2% of all references in Sochi.
Conclusions: The data thus gathered can be used for preparation of medical assistance of Russian national team at any large international competitions including subsequent Olympic Games.
